After getting up early again I ate Frühstück (breakfast) at one of the cutest cafes I have ever been to called House of Small Wonder.
I had a full day planned for myself as I had arranged to meet up with my friend Lisa (true Berliner) in the evening!
First stop was the Pergamon museum on Museum Insel (the museums have their own ISLAND in Berlin), which was honestly one of the most impressive museums I’ve ever been to (I’m not usually a huge fan). It showcases beautiful reconstructed ruins from ancient Babylon and Egypt. I also went to the Panorama gallery which is a 360 degrees panorama piece (my favourite).
If you were really into museums you could easily spend a whole day exploring Museum Insel but I was unfortunately short on time! Next stop was the famous Tiergarten park and the Cafe Am Neuen See.
Personally, I don’t think it would be right to visit Berlin without visiting the Holocaust Memorial so I went there after.
In my opinion, I found it really disrespectful when I saw people taking pictures on top of the stones!
My night with Lisa was amazing and I really got to explore the city like a local with her! She suggested we meet at Bergmannstraße which in her (very wise) opinion is one of the coolest parts of Kreuzburg.
Before we hit the bars she insisted I try a Berlin speciality…currywurst.
Basically its sausage with curry powder and tomato sauce…not my favourite but when in Berlin! Then we took an unexpected stop at a “Spätis”. This is another very Berlin thing to do apparently! I didn’t really understand the significance of visiting at the time as it was only…8.30pm and its essentially a “late night shop” BUT I did try a Club-Mate for the first time!!!
